Cruise Jamaica… Sail And Stay

Published Apr 1, 2003

A record 1.2 million cruise passengers are projected to visit the island of Jamaica for the year end 2003. The induction of new ships and home porting facilities are an added bonus to global shipping lines.

Many a cruise visitor has been enticed by their hourly stop-over, falling in love with the Island, returning for longer stays, while executing future vacation plans. The Jamaica Tourist Board in association with the Jamaica Hotel and Travel Association are making every attempt to keep this fascination alive with tour packages and discounted promotional coupons, that encourage visitors to come back to Jamaica.

Check out the new Jamaica Tourist Board magazine entitled “The Shore Thing", which is offered to all visitors who arrive on cruise lines. As an added feature “The Shore Thing” will help in keeping the message of Jamaica distinct among our friends who would love to return as longer stay guests.

Jamaica has been positioning itself in the cruise shipping market as a dazzling cutting edge destination. With substantial infrastructural development in recent months, it seems Jamaica is set to continue it's winning ways in 2003.

The Port Maria Marina is a major boost we understand, sporting a modern complex with air conditioned terminal, covered walk way, bar & grill, shopping stores and a private beach area. This port of call is expected to capitalize on the boutique ships of the rich and famous. A venture that shall surely keep Jamaica.
