Under Pressure

There has been a series of unexplained deaths occurring in our society today. Most people attribute these losses due to drugs, ill health or simply, that it was their time to go.

Yet, if we look back in history we will find that our Ancestors indulged in the same activities and lived beyond 3 scores and ten, their suggested biblical years.

Lately, the news reports seem to be filled with regular announcements of  young celebrities' deaths. For instance,Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy, the Johnson heiress and several athletes.

The deaths are usually associated with over indulgence of drugs, alcohol, heart attacks or other mysterious causes.

The truth is we are living in precarious times where people are fighting desperately to hold on to what they have achieved in life. Gone are the days when a person accomplished money and status in life and could relish and bask in the glory. The times of being able to reap and enjoy rewards are long gone.

These times are replaced with other peoples' jealousy and the need to usurp another's progress because the competition has become fierce and ruthless. Therefore, the days of achieving success and comfortability are no longer present.

Once a person achieves his or her goal in life that is only half the battle. The rest of the battle consists of constantly "watching your back" because at any moment in time, a competitor or nemesis may try to undermine your hard earned successes.

God once said, "That what it takes a man a lifetime to build, can be destroyed overnight by ill wishes and contempt". However, God urged us to achieve success anyway because in the long run, the fight is really about theglory of God and your relationship with him.

When most people should be glad for another person's successes the "green-eyed" monster seems to make its presence known. A person could usually determine who their true friends are at two intervals in their life. The first being, attaining one's life goals, and the second, experiencing tough times.

It is in these instances, we see the essence of the human beings that surround us. If you are a success, true friends will gravitate towards you with positive feelings. While the ones who feel overshadowed by your good fortune, will conspicuously "cool off" the friendship.

Try undergoing tough times in your life, and I guarantee you that you will see "so called friends" and family flee like flies.

In the old days, a person could feel confident knowing they had a strong support system to endure through life's ups and downs. However, as time progresses and life unfolds, many folks will find that in this world a person has to stay on task regarding their own lives. Because the moment that you relax, or try to take it easy......The proverbial  rug can be pulled from underneath you at any time.

So although the question of "Why are young people dying tragically and suddenly?" still lurks on my mind. I can only answer that question by saying, We are all working twice as hard to maintain what we have achieved in life, and sometimes not even those efforts are good enough. Being "under pressure" can make anyone exit this world from many causes, but the bottom line is, Aggravation, and the stress of fighting vultures who try to sabotage lives can lead anyone to an early grave.
