Oncovering Lack of Conscience: The Result of a Floundering Economy
Published Feb 8, 2010The world has been experiencing an economic decline for several decades. The primary cause of this downward spiral is due to the lack of quality goods and services administered throughout theUnited Nations
and America.
Most recently, I have been plagued by a series of horrendous customer service experiences. At first, I thought these issues were only happening to me, but as I divulged my story to others, I realized that Merchants in general do not care about the quality of service they render to others. My initial thinking was, "How could that be?"
As luck would have it, my car that I had for several years "conked out" on me during the Thanksgiving Season. Therefore, I was in the market to get another.
At first it started as a task of necessity, then as I continued my search more diligently,
I realized that there was a story to be told. Therefore, I utilized my skills as a writer forJamaicans.com
to do an "under cover" story about the experiences that most people are having, except they are too afraid to speak out.
I visited more than 30Car Dealerships
, most told me an emphatic no, others would string me along by telling me that the car was practically mine. They would ask for a down payment in order to run a credit check. A few days later I would get a phone call saying they needed thousands of dollars in order to secure the deal. Naturally, I declined their offer, because who in their right mind would pay thousands of dollars for a used car and then finance the rest?
After declining their offer and asking for my funds to be returned to me, I embarked on a tug-of-war. Each Dealership I gave a deposit to, were reluctant in returning my funds. After several complaints to regulatory agencies, it took me several weeks to have my funds returned.
This is only one example of Merchants taking advantage of decent citizens. A lady told me of a plight where she purchased a product via the telephone and later ended up with a series of charges on her credit card. Although, the banks promise to give temporary credit for unauthorized purchases, somehow, they never seem to stand by their advertisements when their customers are in a dilemma.
A handicapped man informed me of a situation where his car was towed away with hisHandicap placard
and medical equipment, when he called to ask for his medically necessary items, he was told, that was his problem. No one cared that this person with a disability had been taken advantage of.
In times like this, it is natural to doubt the existence of God, because how can he allow such injustices to take place in the World. People do not care about each other anymore, we are living in a "dog eat dog" era. Each man for himself.
People reading this article may think, "Why these victims didn't carry on or complain?"
Guess what? All these folks did complain, they did "carry on" however, it fell on deaf ears.
No one cares about any one else's plight. As long as it is not happening to them.
However, if a natural disaster strikes they expect the world to help a lending hand, yet to uphold Justice in society for humankind seems to go against their principles.
It is my opinion that, "Something is rotten inDenmark
".
