Are Jamaican Artists ready for the global scale?

Published Dec 29, 2005

The Weekend starting December 16, 2005, over twenty local exhibitors were present at the art show located at Devon House. The overall concept of the show was a great idea. The Critic believes the show organizer failed to emphasize quality in the event. Several on lookers were disappointed in the three day program. One of the main sections which required a serious makeover was the car show. Showcasing ordinary automobiles, this area called for extra spice such as, additional vehicles, explicit design styles, and captivating features for spectators to woo and hah over. Car shows for events can be attention crabbers if properly planned. The critic rates this section –Two thumbs down!

Advice:

Event organizers consult with a car show expert next time or leave unfamiliar areas alone. Always keep in mind your reputation is on the line.

Focusing on the Exhibitors, a number of participants were warm and welcoming, while few seemed to be having a bad day. Several artists put the word shame to light in customer service. Could you believe some contributors had boredom and bothered looks on their face? The level of interactivity and friendliness among customers existed to only a small portion of artists. Small quantities of ladies sitting on stools with their legs wide open revealed a poor sight to see by potential customers. One could easily feel like they were at a garage sale instead of a high quality show. Improve! Improve! Improve! Improvement is essential in order for local exhibitors to compete on a global scale. The critic rates this section –Two thumbs down!

Advice:

All eyes are on you! Building a positive image in the business is the first step of customer service! Buyers enjoy and expect outstanding treatment all the time not on special occasions.

TWO THUMBS UP TO THE FOLLOWING ARTISTS

BEST DISPLAY– Alphanso Blake, Michael Livingston, Jose Claud, and Cecile Escoffery

CROWD GRABBERS- Michael Livingston and Nicole Hall
