Cuba tourism is on the rise when most of the other Caribbean countries are seeing a decline. They had a 6% increase so far this year. This is impressive when you consider the fact that there is still a US embargo and Americans cannot travel there freely. Imagine when Cuba eventually opens up. Is this a concern for Jamaica?

The brutal  murder of a Jamaican mother, her son and a young girl visiting from Jamaican (her mother is hospitalized after the attack) has mobilized the Jamaican community online to find the killer. Within minutes of a sketch of the suspect being release by the police it has being circulated by email, on face book and other social network sites.  Lets hope we find this person quickly..

Bolt will be on the August 31st cover of Sports Illustrated. Not sure how many Jamaicans have appeared on the cover but I am expecting to see more of him on there in the future.

Since Bolt’s amazing performance in the 2009 World Championship it seems that NFL writers and some sportscasters want him to play in the NFL. They are envisioning him as a wide receiver who will blow by just about everyone. I hear them calling for team to try him out.

Why would anyone want to do this when they already making a decent living running? The hits his body will have to take (if he is caught) will cause major injures. I just don’t see this happening but them again money talks…

I had a discussion with a friend about Beck’s comments that the president is racist and Kayne West comments that Bush did not like “black people”. Is it similar or there is no comparison? Was Beck chastised harsher with corporate boycotts because he is white and Kayne is black? Can black people be racist?

I did not have a problem with him calling the president a racist (with no facts like Kayne West). I think it was a silly comment.

I was more troubled by the statement “deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture”. Sounded to me like there is a need for some “secret society” to defend and preserve “white culture” like Hitler attempted to do. I guess the question is what is white culture?

With the web you get the ability to see people self-destruct as images and video of everyone’s private life is on display. Case in point, Stephan Marbury. He has been video blogging all summer and it has been pathetic. I feel sorry for him. If you are looking for a job, as Marbury is, why would you smoke ganja on video.
