So twitter is going to roll out commercial accounts by end of the year. Would you pay more to have additional characters when you "tweet"? How much are you willing to pay? How about them having advertisers "following"  your tweets because of a key word you use. Would you like that?

More commericals in Youtube videos

As we all know there is no such thing as a free lunch. First it was the text ads that overlay videos. Now fully commercials are going to be more prevalent on youtube.com.  I expect more youtube.com videos to have full commercial at the beginning and end. I don't think it would stop me from visiting as it is still a place to find something I may have missed.

Title: YouTube's new sales pitch: join our ad program Author: MICHAEL LIEDTKE, AP Technology Writer
Source: Yahoo tech

YouTube hopes to convert more amateur videographers into capitalists as it strives to show more advertising on its Web site and reverse years of uninterrupted losses.

The Internet's top video channel will try to widen participation in a 20-month-old advertising program by actively recruiting the makers of widely watched clips.

The more aggressive approach announced Tuesday is a switch from YouTube's previous practice of waiting for video makers to apply to the ad program.

The strategy hasn't been profitable for YouTube so far — something that the site's owner, Internet search leader Google Inc., wants to change.

After buying YouTube for $1.76 billion in late 2006, Mountain View-based Google initially focused on luring more people to the video site.

As the recession squeezed Google, the emphasis this year shifted to making money, prompting YouTube to explore new ways to show ads alongside more of the millions of clips clicked on its site each day.

YouTube won't allow advertising without the consent of a video maker, largely to avoid legal fights over who has the right to profit from the work.

That policy means YouTube needs to persuade more video makers to allow ads. Toward that end, YouTube will try to quickly identify videos with a big following and then contact the owners of the clips about advertising opportunities.

YouTube expects the solicitations to boost the number of advertising partners from the thousands to the tens of thousands, said Tom Pickett, the video site's director of online sales and operations.

It probably won't require much arm twisting, given that the video owners get most of the revenue from the ads accompanying their clips. Google won't specify how much it pays each of its ad partners, though it typically ranges anywhere from 70 percent to 90 percent of the revenue.

Isabis Inside

Hello people,

I hope you are enjoying your day as we head towards the end of summer.  This summer was an eventful one for me, and I got some rest, so i can't complain. It is also a time to celebrate Jamaica's independence as a democracy and how Jamaicans and people of Jamaican descent can contribute to Jamaican culture.

On Monday August 17 at the Bronx County offices, Bronx Borough President, Ruben Diaz, Jr., in conjunction with the Jamaica Progressive League, an organization that has championed the cause of immigrants since 1936 hosted the 122nd Birthday celebration for The Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey.

Attendees of this annual event were treated to a stellar performance from the 12 year old student Byri-zyashyia Smith who ably acquitted herself in her rendition of the American and Jamaican national anthems.  Singers and players of instruments were represented in the form of BRAATA, a new 8-strong cultural group whose folk songs and Louise Bennett poem, the latter performed solo by Joan Grant provided much needed light relief.  Andrene Bonner, renowned author and educator also regaled those in attendance with excerpts of Garvey’s famous “Whirlwind” speech.

"He sends a nurse over now!  He hates me!"  Karen sobbed to Janet.

"Girl stop crying and step your game up!"  Janet said rolling her eyes and handing Karen a few Kleenex tissues.  "Robert is a jerk and will remain so for the rest of his life.  That girl will have what's coming to her.   You will have to learn to stop throwing yourself at him.  Jesus girl, have you learned nothing from me?"  Janet sighed as the last drop of patience escaped her.  "Black men don't like to just have a woman.  Make him chase you.  Be alluring, and adjust your closet.   The things you wear sometimes remind me of Mom."

"What am I suppose to do?  If I don't constantly keep myself in the loop he will forget me.  You don't know Robert like I do.  He doesn't give a damn.  Not hearing from me is a 'out of sight out of mind', thing. "

Independence Float Parade - Small but exciting!

Our Independence Float Parade can arguably be compared to carnival but pretty much that's where it ends.

The palpable excitement of our children could be felt by everyone especially the adults at Ranny Williams Center.  That's what our Independence Foat Parade is all about.  The children!  What a treat for these youngsters to rehearse for so many weeks and to finally participate on the big day of our Independence Celebrations.  Memories that can never be replicated or duplicated of walking from Mas Ran Center and to later enter our National Stadium amongst the glitz and glamour of our black, green and yellow backdrop!!!!

On leaving Mas Ran Center we drove over to Half-Way-Tree Road as the float wend its way paststhe JIS office.  Fittingly, songs booming into the early afternoon sunny day was Damian Marley's "Welcome to Jamrock" and followed by Buju Banton's driven and popular, "Driver, Don't Stop At All"!!

When you put into perspective that we are only 47 years old, not even half a century and we look at our high expectations for ourselves and in some very real important areas we fall short? - but then there are so many things to be thankful for, to be grateful for, to acknowledge how blessed indeed we are.

The invitation by the JTB to be a part of this Independence press trip has been fun, fortuituous, educational, with lots of awe, wonderment and reflections.  With our wonderful host Lyndon from the NY office and 5 fulltime journalists we have bonded and shared similiar experiences as each day goes by and nuff respect to our ever-attentive driver, Steve.

On Tuesday, we started off with a guided tour of the Spanish Court by Charlotte.  Something must be said about this hotel - it does indeed feel like  a home... the ever-smiling staff, my waiter in the morning is so good and attentive to all my tea, coffee, water and juice needs.'s
