"He sends a nurse over now! He hates me!" Karen sobbed to Janet.
"Girl stop crying and step your game up!" Janet said rolling her eyes and handing Karen a few Kleenex tissues. "Robert is a jerk and will remain so for the rest of his life. That girl will have what's coming to her. You will have to learn to stop throwing yourself at him. Jesus girl, have you learned nothing from me?" Janet sighed as the last drop of patience escaped her. "Black men don't like to just have a woman. Make him chase you. Be alluring, and adjust your closet. The things you wear sometimes remind me of Mom."
"What am I suppose to do? If I don't constantly keep myself in the loop he will forget me. You don't know Robert like I do. He doesn't give a damn. Not hearing from me is a 'out of sight out of mind', thing. "
"You're right I don't know Robert, but I do know men. You have to admit it I do."
"Yeah, whatever."
"Well first answer me this. Is this really Robert's child?"
"Yes, well, I believe so."
"You believe so?" Janet asked with one eyebrow raised.
"Well, there was this one guy from one of his parties that I had sometime with, but I slept with Robert more often."
"That doesn't make the man the father. Well that means we have to get all we can before the baby gets here. That way you can insure some security until a DNA is done."
"DNA? What makes you think I'm going to do a DNA."
"Girl, you think Robert is just gonna sit back and relax while you take him for 18 years? Girl please. Why don't you use your common sense? No man wants this, especially if it was just a casual relationship. Then remember he has a woman, and if the tables were turned you would have been in Robert's ear screaming DNA DNA!!"
"You're right."
"Of course I'm right! I ain't no fool. Now this is what you do? I want you to call Robert and tell him that you will like to recieve a monthly allowance. That way you don't have to call him for anything. Your medical bills will be taken care of, clothing, food, and whatever little luxuries you may need. So first start adding up. Add up how much you need to survive on a monthly basis then add five thousand dollars to it."
"Five thousand dollars!" Karen exclaimed in shock. "Don't you think that's a little extreme?"
"Girl Robert is so fed up with you right now, no offense."
"None taken."
"That he is willing to pay anything to keep you busy and out of his face for the next six months. Anything."
"Okay I'll call him." Karen said as she grabbed a pen and paper from her purse and began calculating.
"Girl stick with me and you will have no problems."
"Freakin' ridiculous!" Robert said as he slammed down the phone. "He swung around in his chair and stared at the panaromic view of downtown Atlanta. It was dark and dreary and sign that a thunderstorm was approaching. He called Nancy's extension. "Come in here please."
A few seconds passed and Nancy walked into his office. "You're suppose to be getting ready to meet with Randy, to start on the plans for Darren's tour. You still look like you're in here relaxing."
"Ten thousand dollars a month!"
"Are you offering?"
"No, that's what Karen is demanding. If I want to be left alone and have a peaceful life until this baby gets here in six months I need to give her ten thousand dollars and pay for all her medical fees."
"Whooa! You know you're also paying for a little play too right?"
"How much playing she planning on doing? She's pregnant!"
"Robert in my time I've seen them in the club shaking their behinds better than mine. So there's plenty to do while she's pregnant. Robert, can you afford to do that? Nancy asked, knowing it was a dumb question.
"Of course I can! It's just I don't like to be bamboozled that's all."
"Well I hope this teaches you a lesson. I'll start sending out those checks monthly, until we receive a DNA test. In the meanwhile, please take care of your boy's tour, before you allow Karen to sink his career." Nancy winked at Robert and gave him a reassuring kiss before leaving his office.
"So are we still on for tonight?" Lisa asked Darren.
"Of course baby, I wouldn't miss a night with you for anything in the world." Darren said as he searched for his shoes under his bed. Lisa was relaxing in her condo getting ready to watch a Lifetime Movie.
"Well I wish you luck on your meeting. Call me when you get back."
"You know I will baby." Darren said before he hung up. "Where's my dang shoes!"
Lisa felt as if she were on cloud nine. She flipped through the channels trying to find Lifetime when she saw Darren's face on MTV. "Rapper/Songwriter D-one has been seen parading through Atlanta with this mysterious beauty. Our sources say that it is turning out to be something serious and D-one has fallen hard. Who is she? Where did she come from? Leave it to use we'll find out. Check in with us next time for her whole rap sheet. This is Ted P for MTV news." Lisa was shocked to see herself on TV. Not just any channel on MTV. She didn't know if she should be scared or excited. She knew that her privacy was about to be invaded. How does she stop it. Then reality hit. "Charles!" She said in a loud whisper. "I can't have him knowing where I am!" She looked up at the clock and noticed that Darren was almost at his meeting she will have to wait to talk with him.
She got up feeling paranoid and pulled her blinds closed and laying on the couch as the TV watched her and her mind race.
Shaniqua sat at home fuming at the report she just saw. "Mysterious beauty!" She shouted in pure jealousy and rage. All that ran through her head was when the report released that she was with Darren all they could say was "Let's hope this is his sister." Shaniqua paced back and forth in her apartment as jealous boiled in the pit of her stomach. She lit a black and mild cigar as she thought on how she can get her "man" back. She looked at her hands and noticed that they were trembling. "I'm gonna kill him! The bastard! It's not suppose to be this way!" She screamed out her frustrations to a empty room.
"Roni, you are a lifesaver! Since you have been here, work doesn't feel so much like work anymore!"
"Glad I can make you comfortable, Nancy."
"You know what, I'm going to treat you to Lunch. What do you think about that?"
"I would love that, I was just wandering what I was going to get today. You ever felt like you've eaten everything out there?"
"Yes yes I know exactly how you feel. That's why you should pack your lunch now and then. That way restaurant food won't disgust you so easily."
"You're right." Roni agreed. Nancy loved his voice. It sounded like thunder rolling when he spoke. It was sexy.
"Well there is this landmark restaurant, a staple in Atlanta's history downtown called 'Pittypat's'. Best damn fried chicken in the south."
"I've heard of it never been." Roni said as he gathered his work up from Nancy's desk.
"Well grab your planner and blackberry and prepare your taste buds for something amazing."
"Awesome!"
As they walked down the street laughing and teasing each other, Robert watched from his limo as they walked passed him unknowingly. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy in the bottom of his stomach as Roni grabbed her arm to pull her away from crack in the sidewalk. Robert blew out hard to relax his tense body, unsuccessfully.
