12 OILS OF ANCIENT SCRIPTURE From the scriptures, we know that the act of annointing is a great favour from god, annointing is a blessing, laying hands upon another in the act of healing is a blessing,to bless another is not just the perogative of priests and ministers, we each have the ablity to be a conduit for god's healing blessings for others. All blessings come from the one scource, when we bless another we acknowledge our inter-connectedness with all of creation. The following is wonderful information on the spiritual and emotional healing uses of the twelve most significant oils found in the bible...
SANDALWOOD: Sandalwood has been used in india for thousands of years as an inhancement to meditation and prayer, its scent envokes a feeling of exotic sensuality and spiritual wholeness at the same time.Sandalwood helps to keep you grounded, close to your divine essence, it helps to reprogram the brain and stimulates the pituitary and pineal glands.
Sandalwood is a cooling oil~ cools the brain in meditation.

CEDARWOOD: Steadiness and balance is the message of the spirit of cedarwood, it has qualities that are often needed when the spirit is weakened by being unable to forgive, it incourages the strength we need to continue on our pathway and urges us to hold fast to our dreams, helping bring our hopes to reality. Cedarwood has been used since time immemorial in civilazations as diverse as egypt and tibet, it is still actively used in tibetan medicine, it was used in the construction of temples to symbolize this.
Cedarwood is a powerful mucolytic (breaks up catarrh)~ we can see paralells in its subtle uses, helping us to cut through the "mental catarrh" that clog our minds just as surely as the physical variety clogs our noses...

Cypress is good for anything in excess~ very grounding, this is good for aiding in the natural flow of things. The doors of st peter's in rome, which is made from cedarwood show no sign of decay even after 1,200 years...
FRANKINCENSE: Sometimes called olibanum, this sweet protector of the heavens operates far beyond the auric field, in the light realms, it is adaptogenic- it will adapt to a persons spiritual state of being, in the cases of spiritual shock or loss, when the spirit can step out of the body, frankincense can gently ease us back to our earthly home, it is one of the most ancient of incenses having been in use for at least 3000 years. Frankincense increases oxygenation, which increases the life force in the physical body, it has the ability to deepen and slow the breath and this helps to bring the body and mind into a medatative state,it helps break ties with the past, especially when they block personal growth...
GALBANUM: Galbanum aligns the brain with a person's spiritual purpose, it allows for the shedding of old ideas and outdated behaviour and attitudes, resulting in total surrender to the creator, it sheds light on life's purpose and on the deeper layer of inner self, allowing for gradual unfolding of truth. Galbanum was moses's favourite oil..
HYSSOP: Hyssop has a very long history as a cleansing herb, both the egyptians and the hebrews used it, it initiates divine self- acceptance and attracts the gaiety and mirth that are lost when carrying the burdens of guilt and duty, it allows discovery of intense fears held in the unconcious mind by relieving stress held in the nervous system. Hyssop teaches you to be gentler with self and not be so stern and rigid.
MYRRH Myrrh helps a person disengage from the mass consciousness conditioing, social norms drain a persons spontaneous energy, obstucting the joy of being in the moment, using myrrh helps with issues of trust, it is used to support and maintain a state of grace,it creates confidence and awareness, Myrrh is pariculaly valuable for people who are stuck emotionally or spiritually and want to move forward in their life...
