12 OILS OF ANCIENT SCRIPTURE From the scriptures, we know that the act of annointing is a great favour from god, annointing is a blessing, laying hands upon another in the act of healing is a blessing,to bless another is not just the perogative of priests and ministers, we each have the ablity to be a conduit for god's healing blessings for others. All blessings come from the one scource, when we bless another we acknowledge our inter-connectedness with all of creation. SANDALWOOD: Sandalwood has been used in india for thousands of years as an inhancement to meditation and prayer, its scent envokes a feeling of exotic sensuality and spiritual wholeness at the same time.Sandalwood helps to keep you grounded, close to your divine essence, it helps to reprogram the brain and stimulates the pituitary and pineal glands. Sandalwood is a cooling oil~ cools the brain in meditation. CASSIA: Cassia was a key ingredient in temple incense in ancient times. Similar to cinnamon but it smells sweeter and more pleasant, it inhances circulation and supports the heart and empowers the will. It is a good oil to use if you wake up in the morning and feel sluggish. Cassia energetically works to free the memories of enslavement held deep in the unconscious. Cassia is emotionally and spiritually calming~use on 3rd eye for clear vision... CEDARWOOD: Steadiness and balance is the message of the spirit of cedarwood, it has qualities that are often needed when the spirit is weakened by being unable to forgive, it incourages the strength we need to continue on our pathway and urges us to hold fast to our dreams, helping bring our hopes to reality. Cedarwood has been used since time immemorial in civilazations as diverse as egypt and tibet, it is still actively used in tibetan medicine, it was used in the construction of temples to symbolize this. Cedarwood is a powerful mucolytic (breaks up catarrh)~ we can see paralells in its subtle uses, helping us to cut through the "mental catarrh" that clog our minds just as surely as the physical variety clogs our noses... CYPRESS: Cypress is useful in times of transition such as career changes, moving home and major spiritual decisions,cypress also helps with painful transitions such as bereavement or the ending of close relationships, it helps reestablish the ability to flow with life, it offers strength and energetic protection to those who are vunerable and insecure or have lost their purpose. Cypress is good for anything in excess~ very grounding, this is good for aiding in the natural flow of things. FRANKINCENSE: Sometimes called olibanum, this sweet protector of the heavens operates far beyond the auric field, in the light realms, it is adaptogenic- it will adapt to a persons spiritual state of being, in the cases of spiritual shock or loss, when the spirit can step out of the body, frankincense can gently ease us back to our earthly home, it is one of the most ancient of incenses having been in use for at least 3000 years. Hyssop teaches you to be gentler with self and not be so stern and rigid. MYRRH Myrrh helps a person disengage from the mass consciousness conditioing, social norms drain a persons spontaneous energy, obstucting the joy of being in the moment, using myrrh helps with issues of trust, it is used to support and maintain a state of grace,it creates confidence and awareness, Myrrh is pariculaly valuable for people who are stuck emotionally or spiritually and want to move forward in their life... MYRTLE: Myrtle balances the male and female traits and achieves harmony by resolving internal conflict and confusion, it allows entrance to the pure and absolute, where ego has no entrance. Myrtle branches are still used by the jews in the feast of tabernacles... ONYCHA: Onycha/benzoin, opens the heart and mind to recieve gifts that have been denied, it allows the spirit to recieve from the soul, in feeling, in knowing, in just being,it can be a pathway to understanding when all is confusion, it is a good oil for spiritual protection... ROSE OF SHARON: Rose of sharon/rock rose, is for prophecy, visions and all quests for truth, it stimulates the eternal knowledge that is intrinsic to all human beings... SPIKENARD: Spikenard is excellent for calming the nerves, it is grounding and settles an out of balanced mind, it brings courage and power, helping people to feel in charge of their lives.
