INGREDIENTS FOR PASTRY:

  • .5 lb flour
  • 3.5 ounces shortening
  • .5 teaspoon salt
  • ice water

METHOD:

  1. Put flour into cold basin.
  2. Add salt & mix .
  3. Cut shortening into small parts .
  4. Add to flour .
  5. Rub shortening & flour until the mixture is like fine crumbs .
  6. Bind the flour mixture by using a tablespoon & cold water to make a stiff paste .
  7. Mix with a baking knife & then shape pastry into a ball .
  8. Roll out the pastry with a rolling pin then cut into round shapes
  9. Bake the patties on an ungreased baking sheet for 30 to 35 minutes

INGREDIENTS FOR FILLING:

  • 2 crushed well riped plantains
  • .5 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • .5 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

METHOD:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a pot
  2. Turn fire on low heat
  3. Cook for 2 min
  4. When cool use as fill for pastry
