Sorrel Drink

- 1 pound sorrel
- 2-4 oz. ginger
- 2 quarts water
- sugar
- wine (optional)
- 8-12 pimento grains

METHOD:
- Wash sorrel thoroughly, using the fingers to lift it from the water.
- Put into stainless steel container.
- Scrape and wash ginger. Grate and Add to the sorrel. Add pimento grains.
- Boil water and pour over sorrel.
- Allow to stand 4-6 hours. Strain.
- Sweeten to taste and add rum to taste.
- Add optional wine.
- Serve with ice cubes.

Hi, I'm in Nigeria and the Sorrel drink is widely consumed here. Here it's called "zobo" or "sobo". We like to add other fruits to give it extra flavour, fruits like pineapple and cucumber but it depends on the individual. You should give it a try.

This Drink is very popular in Mexico... They call it "Agua De Jamaica" (Jamaican Water). It is my Mexican wife's favorite drink.

my friends next door are from the ~Maroon~ area of Jamaica - for Christmas I want to brew some Sorrel wine for them [me too] yet still looking for authentic recipes : To-day is the 3rd of Dec. so`s I had better get a Move On .Any help would be truly appreciated .:-) Andrew in Ct . USA
