Hi I am Phil Dinham... the authentic Jamaican
Newsboy who joined Jamaicans.com out of a need to get involved
in the inter-communion within our micro- community. Its my aim
to help crystallize the level of interaction/communication by
magnifying the top stories of the day in a forensic manner as
we move our family forward into a future that is more stable,
progressive, and "wholly" divine.
I believe strongly in the goodness of the body
called Common-unity or Mutual inter-dependence, Harmony and Solidarity.
Jamaicans.com is at the heart of Jamaicans development in the
21st century. This is the place to build bonds of support while
articulating solutions for the nations business, whether social-human,
economic, spiritual, or psychological.
No other medium within the Jamaican Diaspora
allows for participation and interactivity among mature Jamaicans
as does Jamaicans.com. The closest perhaps, maybe is the UWI Mona
and Utech, but then they restrict the ordinary man, who clearly
wishes not to join the almshouse of the static intellectual ghetto.
Background
I am a trained media practitioner, having worked as News Director
for a couple of programs on WLRN's public radio Miami- Ft Lauderdale.
I also have reported and presented news on WAVS- 1170 am in Florida.
I started out my service in mediation when I joined the Magazine
committee at Jamaica College. Since then I have been awarded Jamaica
Gleaner's letter of the Day, this while I was still in High school.
As well as outstanding broadcast student award by Dade county
public schools -1998.
I have interviewed Brian Lara, as well as Jimmy
Adams, Peter Phillips, and Trevor Munroe, starting with Brian
when I was just 13... My career mentor so far has been award-winning
instructor, John Lovell of the Miami Lakes Education Center in
the USA. http://www.webcom.com/radioweb/jlresume.html the link
for John Lovell
My role models so far have been Michael Manley;
a Jamaica College Old boy who I thought was ahead of his time,
as he had a brilliant mind, and exceptional oratorical skills.
Second role model Hugh Crosskill Junior; another Jamaica College
Abassador who was revolutionary and a media pioneer that was without
doubt ahead of the pack. Mr. Crosskill was a gentleman who I had
correspondence with, he has advised me on matters regarding career
development especially as it relates to the Caribbean and Jamaica
this was before I started formal training in Communication.
I was at Broadcast school when Crosskill was
forced to resign from his General Manager Job at RJR and was devastated
when I heard the circumstances under which this had happened.
From there on I did relegate him from role model status but was
nonetheless saddened by his recent tragic death.
My favourite Jamaican talk show host is Barbara
Gloudon. She is a real Jamaican at heart, she talks Jamaican,
is charismatic, positive, and responsible as she makes no apology
for her commitment to the rudiments of professional journalism/broadcasting.
My favourite Jamaican Media source offline is
Radio Jamaica Group, for its outstanding service to Quality broadcasting.
They are undoubtedly a class team, and have been able to keep
the organization’s name alive without sacrificing the product
for any individual personality on staff that has come or gone
by.
Hobbies
Outside of discussing hard news that is related to the destiny
of the Jamaican people, I enjoy participating in Sports… soccer,
cricket, swimming, game shows. Music…. reggae, gospel, jazz, soca
and above all things my life is about serving my Lord and saviour,
Jesus Christ.
Serving God is my number one calling and so
it never escapes any discussion I partake of. As I am forced never
to leave out he who's Kingdom will reign forever. To not mention
God’s wisdom on matters of fundamental human development issues
would be an indictment upon my servitude of the King. Thus to
offer encouragement and a faithful voice in keeping with obedience
to the creators plan I shall never cease doing.
It’s been an honour to have shared with you
a few things about myself...... welcome aboard the people’s parliament,
Jamaicans.com "out
of many one people online". Online service through time and
space on route to Jah’s Kingdom.
