Greetings, I'm Simrete "Simmy" McLean,
born and raised in Los Angeles, California, migrated to Jamaica
and then New York. I have been in the business end of the Reggae
Industry for over 25 years. I write and edit for the Beat Magazine
about 18 years now. I'm also a *stage granny* for my grandson
Junior, who is an up and coming model/actor. Currently, I am the
Copy Editor for Jamaicans.com and I also moderate the Ackee &
Saltfish Cooking Forum along with my partner, Grandma2. My love
for all things Jamaican happened well over 30 years ago. I came
to Jamaicans.com about 2 years ago, on a recommendation from a
friend and have been here ever since. I'm self employed and loving
it. I don't view anything I do as work, it's a fun job for me
or else I won't go there. Doing what I do for Jamaicans.com is
my way of giving back to a wonderful country that has given me
so very much. Much love and respect to everyone here!
MY INTERESTS: Lover's Rock Reggae, Jamaican
cooking, publishing and editing.
FUN THINGS I ENJOY: I absolutely love being
an entrepreneur, been a higgler all my life. I just don't see
the point of working for someone other than myself. I love raising
my grandson too, he's the light of my life. I love to travel as
well, with Jamaica being my destination more time. Other than
that, I enjoy many things too numerous to list.
MY PHILOSOPHY: Life is what you make it, if
it hands you lemons, then make lemonade.
"True Love never dies, because no matter how you hurt me,
I will make your path clear from all obstacles, even me."
