COWER, Sir Frederick Hymen - born in Jamaica, left the island at the age of four, and became a composer. He was, at one time, conductor of the London Philharmonic Society and of the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. [Source: The Arts of an Island]

COXE, Nigel - Jamaican-born, British-trained pianist living in the United States. He has performed widely in Europe, Great Britain, and the United States, and has appeared as soloist with the London Philharmonic, London Symphony, Hallé Orchestra, and many others. He has given recitals for the Australian Broadcasting Commission, Sydney, and made numerous solo and concerto broadcasts for the BBC London and European stations. Mr. Coxe is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, London. He teaches at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

REGGAE

PRIEST, Maxi - Max Elliott known as Maxi Priest was born in Lewisham, London, England. Maxi made history in 1984 after he and Paul "Barry Boom" Robinson produced Philip Levi's "Mi God Mi King"; the first UK reggae tune to reach number one in Jamaica. Follow-up songs include "Some Guys Have All the Luck" and "Wild World" which brought him international recognition.

TAFARI, Amlak - Reggae MC, Rhythm/Lead/Bass Guitar, Songwriter, and Music Producer/Arranger. Amlak, an English-born of Jamaican parentage, is an internationally acclaimed musician.

ACTING

HENRY, Lenworth George (Lenny Henry) - Born on August 29, 1958, in Dudley, West Midlands to Jamaican parents. His most famous role to date is lead actor on the comedy series "Chef". Lenny was awarded a Royal Television Society Silver Medal for outstanding contributions to multi-ethnic programming in the United Kingdom via his production company, Crucial Films. He was one of the founders and is a trustee for Comic Relief. "Comic Relief is seriously committed to helping end poverty and social injustice in the UK and poorest countries in the world."
