Jamaican Culture
Poem: Labeled Pseudo-Jamaicans
Published Sep 12, 2011Jamaicans are described
as people who are born
in the country, or
born from Jamaican parents,
Some Jamaicans are visible in their
actions and speech, while others who
have been well traveled or raised
differently are hard to detect or
labeled incorrectly,
They may not eat all the foods
that most Jamaicans do,
not because they don't want to,
but because they have food allergies,
that give them hives and other
infirmities,
Or health problems associated
with diseases,
Jamaicans are not always defined by the foods
they eat, but by mannerisms , personality, a no-nonsense
approach to life and their affinity to productivity,
Internally their "Jamaicaness" is intact,
with their ideologies and facts,
Jamaica is in their hearts, bodies, minds and souls,
They don't have put on a show to declare that they
are whole,
To be labeled a Pseudo-Jamaican, one fakes
a Jamaican accent, matriculates into the
culture with evil intentions, and when queried
they have no knowledge of notable individuals,
The history of their culture is vague,
and the legacy of Jamaicans seem strange,
Pseudo-Jamaicans may exist everywhere,
but they are easily discovered by Old School
Jamaicans who are intuitive and fair.
