JAMAICA EXPLORES CARIBBEAN JEWISH HISTORY– David L. Gerber, Professor of Jewish History at The Graduate Center, CUNY and author of “The Jews of Spain” (second from right) and Miriam Bodian, Professor at the University of Texas and author of “Hebrews of the Portuguese Nation.” The group gathered at the opening of the inaugural Jewish Diaspora of the Caribbean Conference where Gerber collaborated with Henriques to co-chair the conference. Bodian served as a member of the panel discussing “The Formation of the Spanish and Portuguese Jewish Diaspora.” The Jewish Diaspora of the Caribbean Conference is being hosted at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston from January 12-14, 2010.
