History:
CLASP was created in 1995 and registered under the Friendly Societies Act in 1997. Its mandate is to take charge of the mentally ill street people, facilitate the provision of their rehabilitation and return the stabilized ones to the mainstream of the wider society. (It should be noted that some of our clients come from hospitals and homes.)

Clinical services:
Clients are evaluated and counseled by a team from Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA). CLASP also has its internal Clinical Committee. Medication provided by the SRHA and Good Samaritans.

Management:
A Board of fifteen (15) Directors manages CLASP. Its Chairman is Myrtle Roye, JP, and the Board Secretary is Ann E. James, JP. The Board has several Committees, namely: Planning, Financial Accountability, Clinical, Fundraising, Membership and Public Relations.

Staffing: a skeleton staff of volunteers man The Shelter.

Clientele:
Presently our Shelter houses clients 18-55 years from various parishes. CLASP is a 24-hour, 7 days per week operation.
We also facilitate the provision of housing, food and clothing for other indigents in Clarendon.

Needs:
Food; renovation of building (electrical, lavatory, sewage, roof); motor vehicle to transport clients to clinic & to transport goods; small kitchen and funds to pay expenses.
