Events
There are various events going on year round, the most notable would probably be Notting Hill Carnival, which is the largest street festival in Europe and takes place on the last Monday in August with entertainers, sound systems and floats.

Clubs and Nightlife
Enter one of the Jamaican clubs and no one could tell you that you weren't in New Kingston jamming in Asylum Night Club!

The 'British' massive, as they like to be called, may be found posing and indulging in their newest fad of 'champagne splashing' in many venues scattered all over the city.

These are:
Buds (Lower Clapton Road, Hackney) - a small club specializing in 'bashment' style music. Open on Mondays.

Cameos (Margaret Street, W1, off Regent Street) - a more upscale establishment located in the heart of London's West End, still catering to dancehall lovers. Open on Wednesdays (with Chris Goldfinger).

Nightmoves (Shoreditch High Street)- is an old favorite recently re-opened which caters to a more mature crowd, playing dancehall, reggae, soca and lover's rock. Open Wednesdays (and frequently hosts dances on the weekends)

Subterrania (Ladbroke Grove)-plays a modern mix of music, one can find both David Rodigan and Chris Goldfinger here on different nights.

Corks Wine Bar (Binney Street, W1, off Oxford Street) - plays a mix on most music, popular with a younger crowd. Open Saturdays.

Illusions Club - (London Streatham)- plays a mix of reggae, hiphop and R&B. Open Tuesdays.

Ronnie Scott's (47 FRITH St., Soho LONDON W1 ) - Caters to the jazz lovers amongst us. Open Sundays.

If you're stuck for choice or want to know what's going on the weekend when you're in town, stop off at any Jamaican food shop, hairdressers, or record shop and you will be inundated with flyers with venues and dates on them.
