Eric 'Monty' Morris helped the Jamaican music scene move forward
when he took lyrics from traditional Folk and Mento songs and
applied them to the new Ska style. A good friend of Derrick Morgan,
Eric started recording just after Derrick. His work with Prince
Buster included the song 'Humpty Dumpty' which saw Buster selling
dub-plates for upwards of the unbelievable price of 50 pounds
each. With a string of hits as long as your arm, Eric Morris
almost seems to be the forgotten Ska superstar. This has as much
to do with him disappearing up to northern New York State as
anything. Call him Eric...or call him Monty...Mr. Morris still
has it...in every way.
