The Techniques were part of a whole new crop of singers who rose to be recognized during the Rude Boy/Rock Steady era. The Techniques helped to establish Duke Reid's 'Treasure Isle' record label as one of the best. Featuring two excellant lead vocalists, the great Slim Smith and the ultra smooth Pat Kelly, they were adifficult group to beat. Winston Riley, who helped found the Techniques, would go on to become a very important record producer...spanning the years and all of the post Rock Steady genres.
