Jamaica's Luxurious Spas Take Five Out Of 10 Spots On Travel And Leisure's 2009 List Of Top Hotel Spas In The Caribbean, Bermuda, And The Bahamas

Published Oct 16, 2009

Jamaica captured half of the top 10 spots in Travel + Leisure’s 2009 list of Top 10 Hotel Spas in the Caribbean, Bermuda, and the Bahamas in the magazine’s annual World’s Best Spas readers’ survey, featured in the October issue and online at www.TravelandLeisure.com/worldsbest. Jamaica’s luxurious spas have regularly appeared on Travel + Leisure World’s Best Spas lists with their inventive treatments, attentive service and well-appointed surroundings.

The top-ranked Jamaican resort on the list of Top 10 Hotel Spas in the Caribbean, Bermuda, and the Bahamas is Couples Sans Souci, which is also ranked number one in the region. Nestled in stunning Ocho Rios, Couples Sans Souci’s Charlie's Spa, named after the resident sea turtle who would dwell in the mineral waters, is an oasis of peace, serenity and well being.

Hotel spas in Jamaica’s diverse resort areas of Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios are ranked on the World’s Best Spas 2009 list of Top 10 Spas in the Caribbean, Bermuda, and the Bahamas.

The Jamaican properties on the list include: Couples Sans Souci (1); Couples Negril (2); Couples Swept Away, Negril (3); Half Moon, Rose Hall (9); and Royal Plantation, Ocho Rios (10).

Survey results for the 2009 World’s Best Spas appear in the magazine’s October 2009 edition, on newsstands now and online at www.travelandleisure.com/worldsbest. A complete methodology of the awards also appears on the Web site.

“Jamaica is delighted to have the most number of spa properties voted as favorites in the Caribbean by Travel + Leisure readers - some of the world’s most bespoke travelers,” said Jamaica’s Director of Tourism John Lynch.

“Jamaica’s spas offer travelers the finest selection of treatments within some of the world’s most beautiful resorts,” continued Director Lynch.

In addition to Jamaica topping the World’s Best Spas lists, Jamaica has been the most recognized Caribbean island in the hotels category in Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards readers’ survey since 2005. In 2009, the island-nation held ten spots in Top 25 Resorts in the Caribbean, Bermuda and the Bahamas region.
