FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR ALL PARISHES

 

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is advising the public that the water level in the Bog Walk Gorge is currently rising and is approaching critical level. The alternate routes are through Barry and Sligoville. The Flash Flood Warning issued by the Meteorological Service of Jamaica remains in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas in all parishes across Jamaica. THE PUBLIC IS BEING URGED TO AVOID THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AREA

 

Outbreaks of moderate to heavy showers are expected to continue mainly over the southwestern sections of the island.

 

The public is advised to continue monitoring the radio for further advisories and to avoid areas that are at risk from flooding and landslides. Also take the following precautions:

 

TIPS

Fishers and other marine interests must exercise caution due to deteriorating sea conditions in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms, over both inshore and offshore areas.

The Meteorological Service and ODPEM will continue to monitor the situation and further updates will be provided as the situation demands.
