The International Association of Caribbean Organizations donated $ 2,000 to the Women’s Resource and Outreach Centre in Kingston, Jamaica. Glendon Thompson, president of the association, presented a check on March 23 to the center, an organization that promotes gender equality and the empowerment of women and youth through medical clinics, work with the elderly, income generation and education and support to women and children.

The center is currently in need of sponsorship for $100 per month per school child to cover lunch and bus fare, seed money for marketing personnel, computers for a homework program, a 120-seat minibus and Web site design and maintenance.

The International Association of Caribbean Organization’s annual “Cultures of the Caribbean” event this fall is to benefit the Kingston center.
