It has been almost a remarkable thirty-six years since an ambitious Robert Nesta Marley (AKA BOB MARLEY) and a group of his close friends formed a singing group called the Wailing Wailers. Following the break-up of that first formative group, Bob Marley went on to put together his own band called "Bob Marley & the Wailers"
Flashback 1975: Junior Marvin was growing up with the rock scene in London . Everywhere one turned, there was the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, the Who, Stevie Winwood and Traffic among countless others. Winwood's "Arc of the Diver" was one of many recordings Junior contributed his playing skills to. One night Junior heard an artist named Bob Marley performing at the famous London club 'the Speakeasy'. He also caught them playing on the Old Grey Whistle Test. Amazed by their "sideways" music, Junior was knocked out by the Marley track Concrete Jungle. He had dreamed of playing with just such a band. Especially after hearing Wayne Perkins solo on 'Concrete Jungle'.
In 1976 while Bob Marley was preparing to do the SMILE JAMAICA concert, an attempt was made on Marley's life. He swiftly fled Jamaica to England and without a lead guitarist. Junior was at this time, Chris Blackwell's golden musician in London . Chris introduced Junior to Bob Marley on Valentines Day, February 14th 1977.
The rest is history.
