Kingston, September 24 - Jamaica will be represented by 55 exhibitors of the over 200, which are expected to descend on Curacao for the 14th renewal of the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show. The show is scheduled to be held at the World Trade Centre in the main town Willemstad , a UNESCO designated world heritage site.

The four-day event is expected to have on display, gift and craft items made from leather/wooden materials along with aromatherapy products, footwear, ceramics, jewelry, specialty foods, paintings, gift items and souvenirs.

The Jamaican contingent is being coordinated by Jamaica Trade and Invest (JTI/JAMPRO) in association with the Jamaica Manufacturers Association (JMA).

The countries will come from across the English, French, Dutch and Spanish speaking Caribbean . The show is primarily targeted at trade buyers from the region and international markets.

Jamaica has traditionally carried the largest contingent and has had an impressive record of taking the major awards. Some of the winners over the years include: Ace Woodwork has won the “Caribbean Gift and Craft Award” for consistently good performance; Blue Mountain Aromatics; Bill Edwards Fashion and Starfish Oils, to name a few.

Last year, 2006, Island Dolls Plus won the award for best booth and that organisation will be represented again this year.
