Kemar “Jr. Pinchers” Thompson Opens The Purple Door

Published Jul 10, 2007

Kemar Thompson (Jr. Pinchers) has recently released Purple Door, his 4th single from his upcoming album True Story. Purple Door is an outlaw ballad about a man who observes his neighbour being mistreated by her boyfriend. When her life is threatened, he makes the decision to protect her and murders her lover, thus becoming an outlaw, on the run. Purple Door was produced by his manager and producer, Rachel Bernard, for Royal Concert Productions.

Kemar has received favourable response from his last single Unfaithful Lover, released earlier this year. Ron Muschette reported Unfaithful Lover as the most requested single on Irie FM so far for 2007. The video for that track, directed by Rachel Bernard, also did well on local entertainment cable stations Hype! TV & RE TV.

Known to many as Jr. Pinchers, the 24-year-old Kemar Thompson, son of veteran dancehall artiste Pinchers, spent his youth growing up around his father's studio and was influenced greatly by the talent he in the Jamaican music business. Eventually, Kemar came into his own as an artist and began writing his own songs. He made his recording debut 10 years ago with the single Blaze Up Di Fire. He has recorded songs for popular producers such as Sheldon 'Cali Bud' Stewart, King Jammys, and Young Bloodz.

Plans are already underway for a video to be made for Purple Door. Kemar's debut album, True Story, is set to be in the fall of this year and Kemar already has plans to tour the US and Europe to promote his album.

Kemar Thompson (Jr. Pinchers)

Kemar Thompson is the son of the famed Jamaican singer "Pinchers". His extraordinary voice is accompanied by the original musical compositions of Rachel Bernard, musical director and head of Royal Concert Productions. The sound is unique, defying genre descriptions, but is danceable, with meaningful and understandable lyrics.

Born October 10, 1982, Kemar Thompson (Jr. Pinchers) hails from St. Catherine, Jamaica. In his early years, he frequently performed at school. Much of the material he
performed were songs his father's, the reggae icon "Pinchers".

Kemar spent his youth growing up around his father's studio and partner studios and was influenced greatly by his talent and others around him in the Jamaican music business. Eventually, Kemar came into his own as an artist and began writing his own songs. His first single was released in 1997 called "Blaze up the Fire".

Now a Royal Concert artist, he has performed and recorded at such studios as Jammys,
Scorpio, Cali Bud, Young Bloodz, Tiger Records and many others. His latest single is
entitled "Purple Door",

His debut album is entitled TRUE STORY. There are three videos currently associated with it: "When Did you Leave Heaven?" "4 Ever" and the hit single " Unfaithful Lover", all on MTV Tempo as well as Jamaican TV and radio.
