Georgia, January 21, 2008 - Former Prime Minster of Jamaica, The Right Honorable Michael Manley who died almost 10 years ago, was recently inducted and his footprints unveiled on the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame in the USA and Atlanta based Jamaican radio program Future Movement Radio was on hand to broadcast the action live to Caribbean listeners in the Atlanta metro area, south-eastern Tennessee, parts of North Carolina and eastern Alabama.

Mr. Manley's induction (the first Jamaican leader to be so honored) was one of the featured events of the annual Trumpet Awards 2008, which took place at the Martin Luther King, Jr National Historic Site, in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. Manley was inducted alongside poet Maya Angelou; singer/dancer Sammy Davis, Jr; activist, Benjamin Hooks; radio host, Tom Joyner; and Martin Luther King's attorney, Clarence B Jones.

"This is a historic moment for Jamaicans in the Diaspora and for the entire Caribbean region and I feel honored we had the opportunity to broadcast the event live to our many listeners" Pat Baccas, CEO of Future Movement, 1010 AM was quoted as saying.

"We got lots of phone calls during and after the broadcast. This was a proud moment for Jamaica," she noted.

The International Civil Rights Walk of Fame was created to give recognition to those brave soldiers of justice who sacrificed and struggled to make equality a reality for all.

After the induction ceremony, Baccas alongside Jamaican music producer Danny Sterling of New Creation Records attended the glitzy Trumpet Awards, held at the Atlanta Civic Center where African-American achievers in many fields including law, business, medicine, politics, entertainment and public service were honored. Among the celebrities attending the event were civil rights and political activist Jessie Jackson, actors Chris Tucker, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Emanuel Lewis & Danny Glover; Judge Glenda Hatchett, Mayor Shirley Franklin, District Attorney - Jewel Scott, Copeland Comrie - Atlanta/Jamaica Association and Glynne Manley, widow of Mr. Manley.

Over the years, the Trumpet Awards have honored and paid tribute to Muhammad Ali, Destiny's Child, Spike Lee, Dr. "J" Julius Erving, Vernon Jordan, Ossie Davis & Ruby Dee, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Stevie Wonder and Usher.
