Despite not having a ground to call their own or a sponsor to fund their future - newly promoted Meadhaven F.C are still giving their all in memory of their late President and Technical Director David Hunt.

Meadhaven gained promotion to the top level in 2008 when they won the Digicel Premier League (DPL) play-off series ahead of fellow qualifiers, Rivoli United F.C. But since their promotion to the DPL, the odds have been stacked against the talented team.

The relatively young club, formed between the two upscale communities of Meadowbrook and Havendale, has been dominant at the youth level. Led by national youth representative Kemmar Daley, the club has won back-to-back titles (and in some cases triple) at the KSAFA Under-13, 15, 17 and 20 levels.

However their growth at the youth level has been stunted somewhat by their berth among the Digicel Premier League elite as it has taken Meadhaven United over two months to register their first win in the DPL despite some decent showings from a team whose average age is approximately 22 years.

Despite their inexperience, many observers don't think the young guns are in over their heads but instead that their late start is mainly due to the fact that Meadhaven are still without a ground to call their home (They've been using Constant Spring as their home ground, at a cost of $40,000 per game) and more significantly, already 9 weeks into proceedings are yet to attract a sponsor.

Coach Lijyasu Simms looks at it philosophically: "With or without sponsorship we'll make an impact." However he admits that "sponsorship would certainly make his players more comfortable" and that "not playing at home has had little effect on our team…we've been playing on the road for years…our brand of football won't change".

However the club's finances must improve if they are to achieve their goals of retaining their Digicel Premier League status next season.
