Atlanta: Future Movement Radio - FMR - a hot new Jamaican radio program, which airs weekdays (5:30pm - 8pm) and Saturdays (9am - 10am), was recently launched in Atlanta on 1010 AM, WGUN - a 50,000 watt regional radio station that covers the entire Atlanta metro area, southeastern Tennessee, parts of North Carolina and eastern Alabama. WGUN has an estimated 70,000 listeners daily and a 1.56 market share based on a Metro Atlanta population of 4.5 million.
Pat Baccas, CEO and founder of FMR said "The Jamaican community in Atlanta has been waiting for this for a long time and I am thrilled that we were able to pull it together. This gives a voice to Caribbean immigrants in Atlanta and serves as a powerful marketing vehicle for businesses seeking to promote their products and services to a niche market" she said.

Baccas disclosed that FMR, with co host Ever G seeks to provide Jamaican nationals in the listening area with radio of the highest quality. The format blends vintage Jamaican music, classic R&B hits, local, national and Caribbean newscasts with business, immigration and health related information.

"Until FMR's emergence, other Jamaican radio programs in the state only spoke to a part of the demographic. Since we have been on air, we have been able to keep listeners rooted in their rich culture and heritage and empower them with information they need to thrive in today's world" she noted.

Baccas bring a wealth of experience and business savvy to the table, as for many years she owned and operated a successful business in Queens, New York. She worked with the Jamaica Tourist Board and Link Up Media as an Advertising Executive. Prior to moving to Atlanta, in 2002, with the support of business partners 'Barry G' Gordon, TK Smith and Mona Lee, FMR made its New York debut on 1600 AM, WWRL and 93.5, WRTN radio stations.

Baccas is fully aware of the powerful allure of the Jamaica brand and is building marketing partnerships with US based Jamaican companies and on-island firms wishing to access the U.S. based Jamaican market, which reportedly has a purchasing power worth U$10 billion and a population growth rate faster than the general population of Jamaica .

"I have many exciting features planned to expand the listenership internationally, including links with radio stations in Toronto, New York, Florida, New Jersey, England and Jamaica, as well as continuing to expose new talent on my show" she disclosed.

She will also continue to work her pet project, to build the Banbury Nursery & Basic Scholl in Westmoreland , Jamaica - a joint project she embarked on with the Westmoreland Reunion organization.
