Sean Kingston Is A 'Triple Threat' For Reggae Carifest 2007 - August 25th, 2007 New York City-Main
Sean Kingston

Hip Hop/Reggae/Soul 'triple threat' Sean Kingston has just been added to the line up for Reggae Carifest 2007. On August 25th, at Randall's Island in New York City, the 17-year-old Miami-born, Jamaican-raised Billboard chart sensation will be joining his uncle legendary Roots Reggae/Dancehall icon Buju Banton, and a slew of Reggae/Dancehall's stellar talents from around the world as a headliner for North America's signature summer Reggae staging.

Kingston and Buju, will be joining Ninja Man, Bounty Killer, Mavado, Lucky Dube, Third World, Collie Buddz, Yellow Man, Pinchers, I-Sasha, Million Voice, Jah Bami, the New Kingston Band, and Murasaki on the 'Green' carpet, while champion Carifest's environmental awareness campaign.

Also Dubbed 'Together We All Rise,' Carifest 2007 organizers Team Legendary want to celebrate the global impact of Reggae music, and feel that Kingston is the perfect addition to the concert, as a forceful up and coming talent, blending Reggae with American Hip Hop and Soul.

"This year we wanted to show the global impact of Reggae, with people like Sean Kingston who is helping to make Reggae a staple force in American mainstream culture," states D'Niscio Brooks of Team Legendary. "Sean Kingston, Collie Buddz, Mavado, I-Sasha, Million Voice, Murasaki, these are young people from various nations all tied together by Reggae rhythms and culture."

The first artist signed to Hip Hop super producer J.R. Rotem's Beluga Heights label, in less than a year Kingston has had two pounding singles with "Colors 2007" featuring A-list Hip Hop MC The Game and Miami's resident Hip Hop Mayor Rick Ross, and the catchy Billboard-charting break-up anthem "Beautiful Girls." The "Colors 2007" Reggae remix features Dancehall rhyme machine Vybz Kartel and Canada's Kardinal Offishall.

In addition to having Buju Banton as his uncle, Sean Kingston is the grandson of the legendary Jack Ruby, noted for producing Reggae royalty like Bob Marley and Burning Spear. Kingston's musical background and talents have proven undeniable to mainstream Hip Hop audiences.

"As an artist, my whole goal is to make powerful and classic music," Sean divulges. "I want everyone to feel me and understand where I'm from."
"He just had a real distinct sound," Rotem remembers of Sean's early tracks that he first heard on myspace.com. "I worked with some of the best and I don't see why Sean can't grow to be one of them. His potential is limitless."
"The whole Reggae community is looking forward to seeing Sean Kingston on Reggae Carifest," Brooks states. "He is a fresh new talent that is giving Reggae a fresh new sound."
