Digicel Cricket Clinics Return To Six Countries Across The Caribbean

Published Aug 19, 2009

Following the huge success of the inaugural Digicel Cricket Clinics in 2007, Digicel is delighted to announce the return of the Digicel Cricket Clinics that will visit six Caribbean countries to coach aspiring young cricketers.

Coaches Kenny Benjamin and Keith Arthurton – both former West Indies cricketers – will lead the clinics for under 15 cricketers in Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, Jamaica and Turks & Caicos. Also on hand to coach the young cricketers, are Digicel-sponsored West Indies cricketers Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Denesh Ramdin and Jerome Taylor.

“The first Digicel Cricket Clinics in 2007 were very successful and we saw a lot of talent in each of the countries we visited from both the boys and girls who participated. This year, we expect to see even more youngsters coming out to showcase their talent,” said Head Coach Benjamin, a former Antigua, Leeward Islands and West Indies fast bowler.

“Kudos to Digicel for focusing on grassroots cricket and to ensuring that the kids get vital tips on how to improve their natural talents,” Benjamin explained.

Gayle, said of the Digicel Cricket Clinics: “I’m really looking forward to getting involved in the Digicel Cricket Clinics again. They are a lot of fun and the kids enjoy themselves but it is also a great opportunity to spot talented young cricketers who we believe have the ability and potential to one day play cricket for the West Indies.”

Digicel Group Marketing Director, Kieran Foley, said: “The first Digicel Cricket Clinics which took place in the summer of 2007 were a huge success and we’re delighted to be bringing this year’s Clinics to six countries to make it even bigger and better than before. At Digicel, we are committed to supporting the development of cricket at all levels; we believe that there is an abundance of talented young cricketers in the Caribbean who will benefit from the expert coaching provided in the Digicel Cricket Clinics.”

The Digicel Cricket Clinics will take place in BVI, Barbados, Dominica and Turks & Caicos and will feature Head Coaches Kenny Benjamin and Keith Arthurton and Digicel-sponsored West Indies cricketers, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Denesh Ramdin.

The Digicel Cricket Clinics will also take place in Cayman and Jamaica and will feature Head Coaches Kenny Benjamin and Keith Arthurton, as well as Digicel-sponsored West Indies cricketers, Chris Gayle and Jerome Taylor.
