NOMINATION CRITERIA
Nominees for the Reggae Walk of Fame must fulfill two main criteria:

1) They must have been born in Jamaica or spent their formative orcreative years here.

2) Their accomplishments must have had a national impact on our Cultural Heritage. Many wonderful Jamaicans qualify for one but not the other condition. Perhaps he or she did not reside in Jamaica long enough to be firmly associated with the Island, or did not spend formative or creative years here. Perhaps due to the nature of the person's work, his or her contributions and achievements did not have a national impact, even though the impact locally was immense.

NOMINATION PROCESS
There are great Jamaicans from the past and present on the list to be inducted. They represent national luminaries from the Reggae field including fine art, music, architecture, literature, journalism, civil rights, education, science, sports, acting, entertainment and broadcasting. Anyone may participate in the nomination process. Simply send a letter to the Reggae Walk of Fame office with the name, date and place of birth, and a short history of the person you wish to nominate. Include the person's Jamaica Connection and an ascription of his or her national impact. Address your e-mail to astor@bobartsinstitute.edu or your envelope as follows:

ABOUT THE REGGAE WALK OF FAME
Embedded in the sidewalk will be a succession of large brass stars. Every star is accompanied in the pavement by a bronze plaque and each set commemorates the life and achievements of an extraordinary man or woman who is associated with Reggae. Mother Booker, Bob Marley & Rita Marley will be there, as is Dennis Brown, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, The I-Three, Buju Banton, King Yellow Man, Chris Blackwell, Big Youth,
Sir Coxon Dodd, Lady Saw and many others.

Ras Astor Black, Founder & Chairman of the Board for the proposed Bob Marley School for the Arts Institute, conceived the Reggae Walk of Fame as a way not only of commemorating Jamaican many contributions to art and literature, music, entertainment and journalism, but also as a way of adding some further enrichment to one of the Island's most want to be on and be seen on.
