NEW YORK, NY (RHONA FOX, INC.) - After all these years of bringing us eloquent rhymes professing uncomplicated love and undying affection, Wayne Wonder continues to delight fans everywhere. Now with the release of his latest album, FOREVA (VP Records/Singso), dancehall soul's quintessential crooner is spreading his joy by taking FOREVA to the fans, as he embarks on the official album tour this week.
Wonder is credited with having his fingers on the pulse and hearts of his fans, and that unique trait has deemed him a fixture in the dancehall reggae scene since the late 80's. "My songs are about relationships - trying to hold on, be strong, beat the struggles, the hurts and the joys," notes Wonder.
Those sentiments echo in every lyric and beat on the new record. He is at the helm as executive producer and enlists some formidable names to cushion his chords, including award-wining producers Snow Cone, Sly & Robbie, and Don Corleon. "It's all my heart, the flow and feel," describes Wonder, of the follow-up to his Grammy-nominated No Holding Back (Atlantic Records, 2003).
Spreading his sounds extensively over the years, Wayne Wonder fans can still expect a few surprises when he hits the stage this time around, especially with his alter ego Deejay Surpriz in tow. "I can work on lover's rock or hardcore dancehall," Wonder chuckles. "I want you to say, 'Wonder what he's going to do tonight?' "
Wonder will be joined by labelmate I-Wayne for the majority of his U.S. tour dates, as I-Wayne celebrates his recent release, Book Of Life. Wonder will then head to Europe in early March to continue album promotion.
