The Far East Band With Tippa Irie, Jah Sun And Stevie Culture! Will Be Touring The West Coast In February 2010

Published Nov 12, 2009

The Far East Band has been playing together since the early 90's, but the end of 2001 proved to be decisive for the future of the Band: Gentleman asked if The Far East Band would accompany him on hundreds of concerts throughout Europe, California, Jamaica, Bermuda, Marocco, Suriname; Televised concerts, and a live DVD that is heard around the world. Inspired by the world-wide positive reaction to the live album with Gentleman, The Far East Band decided to get their creative juices flowing and record their own album titled "Tough Enough" in 2007. The plan was to invite different Artists and open up the genre beyond Reggae and Dancehall. The Far East Band is currently wrapping up new projects, including an album with London's grammy nominated MC and DJ TIPPA IRIE and an EP with conscious sing-jay artist JAH SUN from Humboldt County, CA.

Anthony Henry - a.k.a. "Tippa Irie" emerged from England's Saxon Sound International - the star-studded travelling sound system that has been at the forefront of the U.K. reggae dancehall scene for the past 25 years and helped launch the careers of artists such as Maxi Priest, Papa Levi and Smiley Culture. Tippa Irie was part of the new generation of British MC's who developed the 'Fast Talking' style chat which today can be heard in modern day rappers like Busta Rhymes, Flo-Rida and many more.Tipps latest offering is entitled "TALK THE TRUTH" and was released on his own lablel LockDown Productions LTD and distributed trough out the world from Greensleeves Records. "Talk the truth" features an impressive 22 tracks and guest artists include Atlantic recording artist Elephant Man, Jurassic 5's Chali 2NA, veteran reggae artist Frankie Paul and China Black's Errol Reid peppered with an eclectic mix of producers at the helm: Mafia & Fluxy, Peter Hunnigale, Peckings, LockDown Productions and Pow Pow. In 2008 Tippa linked up with Yeti Beats from LA to work on another LP where he shows that he is not limited to any genre and no slave to the norm. The LP will be released in late 2009! Never the less the entertainer followed his roots and so he spends nuff time in the studio right now to record another LP with Far East Band from Germany. The first tracks of both LPs sounds very impressive and everybody should watch out for Tippa Irie!

JahSun: From the heart of Humboldt County, where the redwoods meet the Pacific, Jah Sun emerges as an artist dedicated to global and social healing. Fusing the sounds of hip-hop, reggae and world music with conscious and uplifting lyrics, Jah Sun hopes to awaken the human spirit and inspire others to live to their ultimate potential.

Jah Sun’s debut album, “Height of Light” (More Love Productions & Moodswing Records, 2006), features some of reggae's top recording artists such as Luciano, Junior Reid, Lutan Fyah and Grammy Award winner, Yami Bolo. Jah Sun brings his message of love and unity with a variety of vocal styles. From fierce hip-hop explosions like "Nuff a Dem" and melodic ballads paying respect to generations of family in "Circles and Cycles", to rootsy anthems like ‘More Love’ and sensual, dancehall licks in ‘Fyah Dance’ Jah Sun brings something for everyone. Regardless of style, the common theme throughout all of his music maintains the messages of positivity, love and respect, and kindness to all. In the words of Chuck Foster in The Beat Magazine, “Jah Sun shines brightly on the “Height of Light”…the message remains positive and focused throughout…and offers some solution to the social problems addressed.”
