The Florida Caribbean Students Association (FCSA) is scheduled to host its 39th Conference at Bethune Cookman University (BCU) on April 5 through April 7, 2013 in Daytona Beach, Florida, under the theme, “Breaking the Cultural Barriers: Dream, Achieve & Discover”.
 
The FCSA Conference is the leading annual Caribbean student event in Florida at which a wide cross section of Caribbean countries is represented. The Conference is expected to welcome over 600 participants including student and community leaders, BCU campus administration, and local officials. The 2013 Conference will offer a variety of networking opportunities and address the goal of this annual conference. In addition, the Conference will provide character building and personal development skills for over 500 participating students.
 
This annual Conference has largely impacted the lives of thousands of college students across the state of Florida. Danika Russell, President, Florida Caribbean Student Association and senior at the University of Central Florida stated,  “It is an honor for me to continue the tradition of holding this conference as it continues to be a great tool to help mold and train our Caribbean youth into leaders, I speak from my own experience when I say that conference changed my life for the better and awarded me the greatest opportunities I have partaken in during my college career . I just hope that our work now will also encourage more individuals to take up leadership roles in their community later on in life. ”
 
This event brings much attention to the impact that the Caribbean community is having on the United States of America as it shows how diversity and unity has spread throughout the country.  Ms Russell also stated that “As the 600 Caribbean youth aim to bring awareness about our organization this year when they gather in Daytona in April to represent their heritage and respective colleges and universities, we are proud to embrace our motto United We Stand as we recognize that we are not divided but one big family.”
