The American Foundation For The University Of The West Indies (AFUWI) once more presents its "Annual Radiothon 2009". In other words, as usual, various popular radio stations in the tri-state area will simultaneously broadcast the 'AFUWI Radiothon' to a neigborhood near you. See your community newspapers and magazines for the names of the listed participants. This space will also post updates as they come to hand.
AFUWI and UWI, on behalf of the scholarship and bursary recipients, express appreciation for the contributions made by the generous partners Beverley Nicols, Dennis Shipping, Everybody's Magazine and the Jamaica Independence Anniversary Committee.
AFUWI, a 501 (c) (3) entity, has regularly facilitated donations and scholarships to UWI students from individuals and corporations in the US. In the past two years, the Foundation has provided over US$150,000 in scholarships, equipment and books valued at approximately US$300,000. The goal of AFUWI, within the next five years, is to establish a US$1 million scholarship fund that can provide full tuition to at least 100 students annually and contribute to the UWI's Regional Endowment Fund to support students' scholarships and research.
