New York - Soca superstar Machel Montano is set to rock the cultural capital of the world when he headlines twice in one night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, on Friday, March 28. The double-feature lineup includes an already sold-out early show at 8 PM, followed by a later show at 12 AM.
Numerous stars spanning the Caribbean and its exotic genres will lend their island appeal to the performances, including fellow Trinidad & Tobago (TNT) countrymen and living legends David Rudder and Mighty Sparrow, and chart toppers Patrice Roberts (TNT), Macka Diamond (Jamaica), Rikki T (St. Lucia), Peter Ram (Barbados), and Problem Child (St. Vincent), just to name a few. Some other entertainment heavyweights are also slated to appear on the bill, but promoters are lending to the excitement by waiting for show time to surprise the audience, many of whom are crossing international borders for the highly anticipated shows.
This concert comes on the horizon of Montano's new album, WINING SEASON, available next month on the Delicious Vinyl imprint. The album has already spawned the new hit singles "Wining Season" featuring dancehall icon Shaggy, and "Defense (The Anthem)" featuring rapper Lil Jon and reggaeton star Pitbull, garnering Montano even more international airplay.
Montano set industry records by selling out two shows on the same night when he performed at MSG in May 2007. With his massive crossover fan appeal and the star-studded lineup and surprises in store, Montano vows to deliver his signature moves and fusion of sounds to fans, making this another night and notch of success to add to his acclaim.
