South Florida’s premier Caribbean music and lifestyle promotions company, Rocker’s Island — in association with RebelMix.Com and Massive B promotions, offically welcome multi-platinum hip-hop soul star Akon to the lineup of the 4th annual Best Of The Best concert being held Sunday, May 27th at Bicentennial Park (1075 Biscayne Blvd.) in downtown Miami.
Senegalese born Akon has much love for Jamaican music. Early on in his career he worked with some of dancehall's wickedest producers (i.e. Dave Kelly, Supa Dups ), and more recently he signed a pair of R&B singers from the island, Brick & Lace, to his Kon Live record label. Fans can expect Akon's Best of The Best performance to be peppered with hits from his smash new album Konvicted, in stores now.
Artists already confirmed for the highly anticipated Memorial Weekend show include headliner, dancehall-reggae icon Buju Banton aka Gargamel, alongside Bounty Killer, Capleton, Shaggy, Elephant Man, Mavado, Tony Matterhorn, Barrington Levy, Lady Saw, Collie Budz, Bling Dawg, Da'Ville, Jovi Rockwell, Shifta, Munga Honorable and Trevor Off- Key.
Best Of The Best 2007 will be hosted by Wyclef Jean, Jabba and Bobby Konders and DJ Khaled, with co- hosts Jamusa, DJ Roy, Mikey Mike, 800-Bungie, Andrew D, Lady Terra, Papa Keith, Walshy Killa, Supa Twitch. Doors open at 1:00pm. Show starts at 2:30pm and ends at midnight. Tickets on sale now at all ticketmaster outlets (www.ticketmaster.com). The official after party for Best Of The Best 2007 will jump off at Bayside Hut (3501 Rickenbacker Causeway).
