Cari-Folk Singers of Jamaica Returns to New York for a Tri-State Tour – October 18, 19, 20 & 21, 2007-Main

The internationally renowned Cari-Folk Singers of Jamaica return to the New York Tri-state area this fall for the North American premiere of “ANCESTORIES”, a four concert series.

“ANCESTORIES” sees the Cari-Folk Singers, one of the most dynamic and acclaimed folk groups to come out of the Caribbean, sharing through movement and song, the stories of a people who have seen much, having endured even more, emerging from the inhumanity of the slave trade some 200 years ago when it was ended by the British in 1807 in their former colonies in the Caribbean.

These concerts are presented by Lignum Vitae Edutainment, Inc., in support of the Hurricane Dean Disaster Relief Committee under the auspices of the West Indian Foundation, Inc. and under the distinguished patronage of prominent Caribbean dignitaries who are aware of The Cari-Folk Singers and their excellence in performance of Caribbean folk music. Residents of the Tri-state area are encouraged to come out and see this legendary group at work. In a time when people are crying out for positive and uplifting images, the Cari-Folk Singers take us back to a time when all we had was the music, to say in song what we needed to sustain us through our struggles, they show us winning out with dignity and surviving to this day when others did not.
