The Caribbean Pavilion will make its 14th appearance at The National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT) Summer Fancy Food Show at Jacob K. Javits Center in New York on July 8-10, 2007 (Caribbean Pavilion Booth #4116). The flavor, taste and aroma of Caribbean food and culture will be on display for three days in the pavilion. A wide array of foods will be showcased from the islands of Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
Over 100 authentic Caribbean products will be on display and include candy and individual snacks, condiments, conserves, jams, sugar confectionary, seasonings, shelf stable mixes, shelf stable and refrigerated sauces, salsas and dips, sodas, juices, rum and fruit cakes as well as nutmeg jams, jellies and liquor.
Breaking out of the traditional strong categories such as hot sauces, condiments and spice, Caribbean producers continue to surprise the specialty food trade with their exciting new wide range of offerings. As a consequence, Caribbean producers have been expanding their existing niche in the specialty food market beyond traditional products.
The exhibitors of the Caribbean Pavilion are Calypso Bakeries of Barbados, Grace Foods International, Honey Bun and Central Food Packers of Jamaica and Caribbean Specialty Foods, KC Confectionary Limited, Matouk International USA, RHS Marketing and Tropickle Foods of Trinidad and Tobago and De La Grenade Industries from Grenada.
Companies have also seen a rise in yearly demands by US retailers for “Authentic Caribbean” products. Because of these exciting developments, Caribbean Export Development Agency Technical Advisor, Sam Kruiner sees the potential for tremendous growth by Caribbean producers of specialty foods.
The pavilion is organized by the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export), which has been organizing the pavilion for 14 years with the first two years under the Caribbean Export Development Project.
“We continue to see a growing demand for “Authentic Caribbean” products, not only in the traditional Northeastern and Southern US Markets, but in areas such as the West Coast and Southeastern”, said Kruiner. Participating companies at this year’s show are drawn from Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
