In celebration of Caribbean-American Heritage Month, the Institute for Caribbean Studies and the National Museum of Women in the Arts will host authors Merle Collins, Donna Hemans, Marie-Elena John, and Rosalind McLymont.

Merle Collins, a professor at the University of Maryland, is the author of two novels, a collection of short stories, and three volumes of poetry.

Donna Hemans was born in Jamaica and is the author of River Woman. She twice served as the Lannan Visiting Creative Writer in Residence at Georgetown University and has taught fiction writing at the University of the West Indies campus in Kingston, Jamaica.

Marie-Elena John, author of Unburnable (Amistad, April 2006), was born and raised in Antigua. John has worked with non-profit organizations and becoming best known in her field for her pioneering work on the denial of women's inheritance rights in Africa.

Rosalind McLymont, author of Middle Ground (Beckham, 2006), is also the editor-in-chief of The Network Journal, New York's premier magazine for Black professionals and business owners. She is also a partner in McLymont, Kunda & Co., an international trade and business development strategy firm serving clients in the United States, Africa, and the Caribbean.
