Prime Minister, Hon. Bruce Golding will begin a three day official visit to the Jamaican community in South Florida on Friday (Mar. 28) through Sunday (Mar. 30).

The Prime Minister’s schedule will begin with a town hall meeting that evening at 7 p.m. at the Miniaci Performing Arts Center on the campus of the Nova Southeastern University in Davie.

He is expected to address his audience on a range of topics of interest to the Jamaican Diaspora at this time. As well, the PM will speak to the involvement of the Diaspora in the building of the Jamaican economy through investments.

On Saturday (Mar. 29), at 11 a.m., PM Golding will join congregants at a church service at the Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist Church in North Miami. The 500-strong congregation is headed by Pastor Dr. Keith Harding.

The Prime Minister will be guest speaker at the second annual Community Service Awards Ceremony and Tea Party hosted by the Jamaica Consulate in Miami. At the event will be held on Sunday (Mar. 30) at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, twelve Jamaican nationals will be honored for pioneering work and longevity of service to the community,

The honorees are Dr. Ivy Claudette Armstrong, a published poet, Mayor Samuel Brown of Lauderdale Lakes, Mrs. Elloreece B. Burrell, community worker in the Tampa area, Messrs. Glenn Chin, NASA Mission Manager, Don Daly, media specialist, Mrs. Beverly Ford, former Honorary Consul of Houston, Texas, Captain Barrington Irving, Jr., youngest person and first person of African descent to circumnavigate the world solo by aircraft, the Rev. Horace Ward of Holy Family Episcopal Church in North Miami, Michael and Jackie Shaw of Sunshine Theatre Company, Mrs. Joyce Wright, founder the Jamaica Nurses Association of Florida and educators, Dr. Winston Whyte and Dr. Karl S. Wright.
