The awardees are drawn from a wide cross-section of individuals in the state of New Jersey who have demonstrated excellence in their various endeavors, and who have contributed significantly to the development of the Jamaican and world communities. The keynote speaker for this year's event is the Hon. Dr. Barbara Gloudon, O.J., distinguished radio host, folklorist, columnist, playwright and communications consultant. "This is a time when we pay tribute to the finest in our communities", JON-J president Linval James commented. "Jamaicans typically support the gala in a big way, cognizant of the fact that service to humanity is the best work in life", he continued. The 2007 scholarship winners are Anaida Elysee, Leslie Gentles, Serena Connolly, Dwight Jones, Lori Lewis and Vaughn Stewart. Ticket prices are $125 per person, $220 per couple and $1150 for a table or ten. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund scholarships as well as to underwrite relief shipping costs to Jamaica.
