Jamaica’s Brad Hamilton Has Four Record Swims For Baylor, January 22,2008, Tennessee

Published Jan 26, 2008

January 22, 2008 - Swimming for Baylor high school Jamaica’s Brad Hamilton had four great swims against the Westminster school on Saturday. Swimming at their home pool in Chattanooga ,Tennessee in a 25 metre pool the Baylor ‘A” Team of Shirley Reese backstroke (26.54) , Hamilton breastroke (28.97) ,Greg Roop butterfly (26.30) and Josh Sosna freestyle (23.98) destroyed the independent (private) schools 200 medley relay record of 1:48.71 by clocking 1:45.79. The record had stood from 1982 to Mercersburg Academy. Hamilton had the fastest breastroke leg of all the relays. Up next was the 50 free where Hamilton crushed the field by over a second to record 23.53. This clocking equaled the national school standard set by Brian Wilson of the Pingry School set in 2006. It also betters his previous best of 23.90 set at the 2004 World Swimming Championships in Indianapolis, USA. In his next individual race the 100 butterfly he refused to share the title of record holder and rushed past Wilson‘s time of 56.59 to clock 55.81. For his last feat of the day he took the “A” team of Reese (24.11) ,Roop (24.50) ,Sosna (24.25) under the national school’s record of 1:39.14 with his anchor leg split of 23.62 (the fastest of all relays) to post a total team time of 1:36.48. The record had stood for seven years to the Holy Spirit School. Hamilton is conditioned by National Technical Director Jacky Walter as a part of the Tornadoes swim club. He holds national records in the 400 medley and 800 freestyle relays. In individual events he holds Jamaican records in the 50 and 100 metre breastroke as well as the 100 and 200 metre butterfly.
