Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 December, 2007 : - - Checks with the wave prediction websites have forecast good surf for the weekend of December 29-30 when the fifth and final event of the Jamaica Surfing Association’s National Open Championship Series is scheduled to be run at Boston Bay in Portland. The event which was to have been held on Saturday 22nd December had to be postponed due to a lack of contestable waves.
“This happens all over the world….” Explained Billy Wilmot, President of the JSA, “… even in Hawaii surf contests have to be postponed from time to time due to lack of surf as was the case with the recently concluded 2007 Pipeline Masters event which had to be put on hold while they waited for surf to arrive.”
This time of year is prime season for Jamaica’s surf and will no doubt deliver excellent waves for the climax of the 2007 National Open Championships. The public is invited to come out and cheer on Jamaica’s top surfers as they strive for National Honours.
