Shanghai, CHINA. October 10, 2007 – Proudly wearing the medals they won during the Special Olympic Games (SOG), athletes from Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago gather for a commemorative photo with representatives of the Caribbean Association in China during an informal Association-hosted reception to honor the region’s Special Olympians.

Among the group of 41 that gathered for dinner on the third floor of the Chun Shi Tang Taiwanese tea house on Shanghai’s upscale Huai Hai Zhong Road, there were Special Olympic representatives from Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago. The CAC turn-out was even more diverse, representing Jamaica, Bahamas, Suriname, Haiti, Dominica, Antigua, Denmark, Zimbabwe, Zambia and China.

“It was a fun-filled evening and we felt blessed that they took time out to meet with us,” said CAC President Nicoleen Johnson.

About the Caribbean Association in China (CAC):
The CAC was started on April 1, 2007, by a group of regional nationals living in China who felt the time had come to establish a Caribbean network and to build an awareness of the Caribbean region in China. The Association works closely with, but independently of, Caribbean countries’ Embassies in Beijing to promote and foster the Sino-Caribbean relationship. The CAC provides a support network for regional nationals in China, as well as engages in charitable work aimed at benefiting the needy in China and the Caribbean.
