Student Leadership Conference Comes to South Florida for Caribbean-American Heritage Month Celebration - June 29th 2007, Pembroke Pines-Main


STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE LEADERSHIP 2020

A Caribbean American Perspective
On June 29th 2007, The Institute of Caribbean Studies (“ICS”) will be welcoming the Second Annual Student Leadership Conference to South Florida. This one-day conference will empower Caribbean-American youth ages 16 – 35, providing an opportunity to have a voice in issues facing the world and the Diasporic movement with regards to creating a vision for the year 2020. Attendees at this conference will participate in live discussions with their peers and in a cross-generational environment where their voices will be heard. This year the theme is “Leadership 2020: A Caribbean American Perspective”, and will focus on our youth and the development of their future.
This FREE Conference will bring together enterprising young minds for the purpose of working collaboratively to accomplish a shared vision. The Conference will highlight four major areas and will feature both panel and breakout sessions. At the end of the conference, those in attendance will have gained an insight into the process(es) required to implement the necessary changes that will secure their goals for the future.
The areas that will be addressed are:
 

  • HEALTH
  • EDUCATION
  • LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
  • ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Through a strategic alliance with Generation Engage (http://www.generationengage.org), the conference will be transmitted via internet satellite, simulcast to two remote locations throughout the United States. This will allow for participants to interact, real time with the actual conference.

South Regional/ BCC Library

Pembroke Pines, Florida.
