Scores of journalists, artists, sponsors and music industry executives turned out Monday night in New York City to show support for the 7th Annual New Jersey Reggae Fest. The event takes place this Sunday September 16th at the Newark Terrace Complex, 1030 Broad Street in downtown Newark.
At a packed media party that took place at the cozy Blue Mahoe Restaurant & Bar on East 14th Street in Manhattan, Beenie Man told journalists they could look forward to the most exciting renewal of the festival ever as this will be the first time that Ninja Man, Bounty Killer and himself will be on the same bill in the New York tri-state region. Tony Matterhorn, Munga Honorable, Taurus Riley, Daville, Fayan Lyons & Bunji Garlin, Ras Emmanuel will also perform, alongside a number of blazing hot newcomers.
Concert promoter G City gracefully accepted accolades for his continuous efforts to promote this event in the state of New Jersey, and he invited reggae music fans to come out and enjoy the one-day outdoor family extravaganza that typically attracts fans from as far away as Atlanta and South Florida.
Gates open for the event at 3:00 PM and the main stage concert begins at 5:00 PM. Apart from the musical treat on stage, fans can take advantage of the arts and craft village type setup at the venue with assorted items for sale such as reggae clothing, jewelry, DVDs, Cds, island flags, footwear, books, Caribbean cuisine and a lot more.
The media party was sponsored by Cockspur Rums and featured a live performance by Active Dancers, a Bronx-based dancehall quartet. Among those attending were Jamaican actress Debra Ehrhardt; Anthony King, regional director, Jamaica Tourist Board; Gwyneth Masters of Sunrite Jamaican Products; Don Green, founder, Reggae Sunsplash; David "Squeeze" Annakie, president, Linkup Media; Louis Grant of Irie Jam Media and producer of Irie Jamboree; Jonathan Young, Cockspur Rums; David Curtin, director, Zion Gate Films; Owen Brown, president, Positive Reflections; Keith "Doc" Clarke, president, Hood Love Clothing Line, Kay Star, President, Real Deal Radio and media marketers Dave Rodney and Anthony Turner.
