Jamaica Registrar General Dept. Annual Outreach Program Begins in Florida - November 19-20, 2007

Published Nov 14, 2007

The Registrar General Department (RGD) will conduct its annual outreach program in the USA beginning next Monday (Nov. 19) in South Florida.

Sessions will be conducted on Monday (Nov. 19) and Tuesday (Nov. 20) at the Jamaica Consulate office located in downtown Miami from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. both days.

On Monday evening the team will continue the outreach program at the Pentecostal Tabernacle at 18415 NW 7th Avenue in Miami from 6 p.m. through 9 p.m.

The following day, the team moves to Broward County when they meet with the Jamaican community at the City of Lauderhill Police Department located at 6279 Oakland Park Boulevard, also from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Staff of the RGD will facilitate members of the Jamaican community at three sessions over the two-day period to conduct on-site processing of applications for birth, death and marriage certificates as well as deal with concerns of nationals overseas

Encouraging nationals to utilize the services offered by the RGD at the identified locations overseas, Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Dr. Patricia Holness said that this service is particularly important to members of the Diaspora who are unable to apply for a copy of those certificates using the agency’s online service.
While overseas, the team will also assist persons in conducting genealogical research, and general record updating activities.

As nationals abroad are making a concerted effort to update travel documents in light of immigration rulings, the RGD is also working with customers to ensure that they receive the required supporting documents such as birth, marriage and death certificates.

The team will then move on to Atlanta and New York, where they will conduct similar sessions.
Interested persons can contact the Jamaica Consulate at 305-374-8431 ext. 221.
