Tarrus Riley Returns For CARIBEFEST In Miramar - September 2, 2007 , South Florida-Main

Tarrus Riley the talented young singer/songwriter, who grew up in South Florida, will return to perform at Caribefest 2007 - Jammin from three to eleven - Sunday, September 2, (Labor Day Weekend) at Lakeshore Park, 8501 S. Sherman Circle in Miramar.

With his sophomore album "Parables" receiving critical acclaim and the single "She is Royal" riding the charts, Tarrus Riley is among the crop of Jamaican singers defining the sounds of today's roots reggae music.

Staged annually by Caribefest Inc., and the City of Miramar, Caribefest 2007 is a free multi-cultural festival focusing on the music, food and culture of the Caribbean. The festival has a tradition of featuring top Caribbean acts, and the inclusion of Riley to this year's list continues that custom. Riley said he was looking forward to perform in South Florida, where he grew up, and expects all his fans to be out in their numbers to show their love.

Also scheduled to appear at Caribefest is veteran reggae vocalist Leroy "Heptones" Sibbles, local Latin sensation La Potencia Latina, Kompa stars Hangout and Gabel and young Latin Hip-Hop wonder Michael Garcia. Adding to the entertainment will be the Virgin Islands Mocko Jumbies and a local steel band to energize the early crowd.

"Me always say me born to sing healing music," Riley said, the healing coming from his nurse mother Lavern Tatham and the singing coming from his father, former Techniques member Jimmy Riley. "My mother is a nurse, but is she give me the push inna music," Tarrus Riley said, crediting his father for being there.

Over the years, Caribefest has become one of the major events staged in the City of Miramar. The City is responding to the needs of its diverse
population by supporting high-caliber events which appeal to the varied
ethnic composition of its residents.

Rounding out the festival will be a varied selection of booths selling Caribbean foods such as jerk chicken, curry goat and fish, plus cool drinks to quench the thirst of patrons jamming' to the music while enjoying the evening's entertainment. A selection of T-shirts, art and craft items as well as other novelties will also be available from vendors. Major corporations will also be offering free gifts as well as valuable prizes such as trips and vacation packages to lucky raffle winners.

Caribefest 2007 is presented by Caribefest Inc., The City of Miramar, Comcast Cable and the Sun-Sentinel.
