In The Aftermath Of Jamaican Floods, New York Community Finds Cause For Holiday Cheer - December 31st, WHATZ UP Radio NY

Published Dec 20, 2006

WHATZ UP NY AIRS CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION IN ST. MARY FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

New York, NY - Dec 20, 2006 : On Sunday, December 31st, WHATZ UP NY will air footage of Laten's Place 4th Annual Christmas Celebration, which will be held for the Carron Hall community in Dry Gully, St. Mary (JA) on Christmas Day. The year's holiday festivities comes just a month after torrential rains devastated the Northeastern section of the island, leaving many St. Mary residents displaced or homeless.

Shaun Walsh, Executive Producer and Director for CIN's highly popular WHATZ UP NY, joins restaurateur, Laten Davis of Queens, New York on his 4th annual Christmas celebration for live taping. The timely Christmas Celebration kicks-off with a fun day for the children, complete with treats and back-to- school giveaways--fully stocked school bags and $1,000 prizes for Spelling Bee and talent competition winners. The evening ends with Carron Hall's 4th Annual Ultimate Bashment, featuring music from legendary soundsystems Stone Love, and Metro Media among many others. Gate prizes of $5,000 cash and other giveaways will be offered.
"The Christmas spirit is all about giving," noted Walsh, who said he made the commitment to go to Jamaica before the November rains. "However, after recent floods, the trip takes on a more urgent tone; we have to try to do more."

Walsh, who is also committed to sharing his experience with New York's Caribbean community, hopes to capture the need of Jamaicans who were affected by the heavy rains. While government awaits the release of the National Works Agency (NWA) report on the overall damage, through his weekly program, Walsh implores New Yorkers for relief assistance for families affected during the Holiday season. For more information on WHATZ UP NY, contact Shaun Walsh at 347-713-2562 or via email at whatzuptv@yahoo.com.

About WHATZ UP NY

Whatz Up NY offers a 28- minute variety show uniquely combining the two elements, which currently airs on CIN, Ch. 73 on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. in all five boroughs..
